lyrics
We are the voices that inspired generations.
Spoke of peace, and spoke of frustration.
We sang of freedom - and what it’d be like to be “Home.”
Now our words, they echo through these walls of white
Down Finglas, and to the pubs where rallies cry
Through the rafters and across the channels of tyranny.
‘Cause we are the lovers, we are the righteous,
we are the revolutionary fighters.
We are the ones, who tried to change the world,
and we are not content.
The one who started was pure, he was innocent
Those who followed weren’t guilty, they were patriots
Who fought with - the strength of their tonsils and their feet.
Our ideas, they bound us to this hallowed land
Incited riots and the debates that we championed.
They left our brethren wondering if we’d ever cease.
‘Cause we are the lovers, we are the righteous,
we are the revolutionary fighters.
We are the ones, who tried to change the world,
and we are not content.
We are the ambushed, but also the assassins
Though it was our pens that made all this happen
And in these pages, “ourselves alone” now ruminates.
Critics said, we should’ve let the pieces fall,
Just bowed our heads, and forget all the things we saw.
But this is a mission - not suited for a rosary.
‘Cause we are the lovers, we are the righteous,
we are the revolutionary fighters.
We are the ones, who tried to change the world,
and we are not content. (2x)
